For those of  you that may not have heard, July 9^th was the last day the PT Cruiser will be produced.  If any of you are looking to get a new PT, I am sure there will be some great deals between now and the end of the year.   There are a number of articles being published concerning the end of the PT.

Wine Cruise – July 17^th

Departing from the Target parking lot in Wilsonville at 9:00, make sure to bring your own lunch.  Stopping at 2 great wineries and then onto Antique Powerland Museum in Brooks.  We will be parking by a restored Texaco gas station for pictures.  Make sure to send Peter an email if you are planning on joining us so he has a good head count.  pt_sea_mist@comcast.net

Movie / Meet N Greet – July 31^st

The time has not been determined yet due to the show schedules have not came out yet for this date.  I estimate it will be at around 12:20 give or take at the Evergreen Theater ( 2625 NW 188^th, Hillsboro, just off of NW 185^th ) We are planning on seeing The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (http://www.fandango.com/thesorcerersapprentice_126407/movieoverview?date=7/14/2010 ) and then after the show we will cruise over to Sonics at 7380 NE Butler Road, Hillsboro for dessert (http://www.sonicdrivein.com/home.jsp#/home ) and the meet n greet part.  We will be parking in the Kohl’s parking lot next to Sonics.  If you are interested in this event please let me know so I will have a good head count.

Abundant Life Cruise In – August 7^th

BBQ & Scavenger Hunt Meeting – August 13^th

Our next meeting is a BBQ on the grass by the Garden Room and then a scavenger hunt in the area !! Remember this is Friday the 13^th !!!  The club will provide the hot dogs, hamburgers and buns. Please bring your own chips, drinks and dessert.  So that we do not get too many hotdogs, hamburger and buns please let us know if you are planning on coming to this meeting.  Same time at 7:00 PM, we will start cooking at 6:30 PM …

Crawfish Parade & Festival – August 14^th

Kite Festival Long Beach, WA – August 21^st

We were not able to secure enough people to charter the larger bus to make it economical so we cancelled the bus but some of us are still going to go just that we will be driving up ourselves.  If you would like to join us please let me know.  For those of you on the west side we are leaving from the Les Schwab / Fred Meyer parking lot off of NW Imbrie Road in Hillsboro at 0730 and then meeting up with everyone else in the parking lot of the Mexican Restaurant next to Fred Meyer in Scappoose at 0800.  If you can double up with other club members that would be great since parking is going to be at a premium once we arrive.  This is an International event so there will be more kites they you can possible imagine.  Next year we were thinking about getting some rooms but Bob mentioned that he has tired and you have to reserve the room for the entire week since this event is so large.   ( http://kitefestival.com )

Up Coming Events

Tulip Cruise was yesterday and we had a great time, Bob and Maryanne did an excellent job of organizing this fun cruise.  We saw great views, traveled all the back roads and even floated across the Willamette River ! J  …  The tulips were in full bloom and beautiful as always.  I want to thank Bob and Maryanne for organizing this event for us, great job.

Yaki-Vegas Wine Cruise May 14^th and 15^th

This is a great event and I will send out the information on it later today for any of you that might want to go. They do a great job and a number of PT’s from all over come for this event.

Whale Watching Cruise – May 21 – 23

There is still time to get signed up for this great Cruise that Bill and Bonnie are putting together for us.  Everyone needs to make their own reservations for the Whale Watching boat, go to www.islandadventurecruises.com  or call 1-800-465-4604.   Select the AAA ticket price, enter "Bonnie" as the member ID and expiration date of 12/2010.  That will include you in the group.  The Tulalip Resort. ( www.tulalipresort.com )  Prices are $140 a night and that includes breakfast at the buffet.  As you can see the price at the Tulalip Resort is not that bad compared to the other motels in the area considering you get a breakfast buffet included.  Make sure to let Bonnie know if you are going ( blburlew@yahoo.com )

Ice Cream Social / Potluck lunch – Sunday June 27^th

This will be once again held at Vancouver Lake Park and everyone is invited, family members, grandkids and friends.  The more the merrier.  This year we are having a chicken contest so start thinking about what type of chicken you want to enter, cooked that is .. lol .. !! J  ..  We will have the Water Balloon launcher target contest again and this year we are going to have a kite flying contest or display depending on how any people enter the contest.  Either way bring your kites for some great kite flying, there is usually lots of wind, no power lines and lots of open space !!  We need to start gathering the names of everyone that wants to attend for ice cream purchase planning.  We will have a signup sheet at the next meeting or you can email me and I will let Don and Linda know.  Not totally sure yet if we will have our normal semiannual raffle but we will have something might not be as big as it usually is but we will have the kids raffle again for sure !!

Possible Cruise to Florence to ride the Dune Buggies in July depending on how many people are interested and when the Wine Cruise is.

Long Beach Kite Festival – August 21^st

We are trying to put together enough people to charter a bus since parking is going to be a very hard thing to find during this Festival in Long Beach.  This is an annual event and it is one of the largest kite festivals on the west coast.  (  http://kitefestival.com/kite-festival  )  Prices for the bus will depend on how many people we can get to go and the size of the bus.  It could range from as low as $17.00 per person to as high as $28.00 per person but this is pretty inexpensive compared to driving and trying to find a parking spot.  Once we arrive back in Portland we could cruise somewhere for dinner if everyone wanted to.   We need to know how many of you are interested for planning purposes and to reserve the bus.  We need to find a meeting location where all of our vehicles will be safe for the day and etc.  If you have not signed up yet please let us know, right now we have 22 people but we need around 56 to get the larger bus and the lower rate.

Vacation Cruise September 12^th – 18^th

There is still plenty of time to get signed up for this and join us on another great Vacation Cruise!!  We will be seeing Crater Lake National Park, Tulelake National Lava Bed Park, Reno, Virginia City, Lake Tahoe both from the road and the water and finally Lassen National Park.  I will be sending out another email with all the links and details for motels and dinner boat cruise soon.

Thanksgiving Dinner Party – November 20^th

Once again we will be at the Church in Hillsboro and everyone is invited, family members, relatives, grandkids, friends, neighbors and possible future club members.   This year we are going to try something a little different with the entertainment.  We know there is a lot of talent in the club or any of the above mentioned people so we are going to sponsor TVCC’s Got Talent show with 3 nice cash prizes for 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd place winners.  I mean nice cash prizes !! J  ..  So start thinking about what you want to do either as an individual or as a group everyone in the audience will vote for their favorite person along with our 3 judges until we finally come down to the final 3.  You have seen it on TV as America’s Got Talent now come and see and participate in TVCC’s Got Talent !! J

Christmas Party – Doubletree Hotel 12/11 NE Portland.

We are going back to the Doubletree Hotel this year. We will still have our Ornament Exchange and White Elephant along with a great dinner and fantastic fellowship !!  Cost is going to be $32.00 per person and if you want to pay a little each month from August to December will can accommodate that for you, just let us know.  Once again everyone is invited, family, friends and any future club members.  There will be a no host bar and some good room rates for those of you that may want to spend the evening.  Also parking passed are included for the parking garage next door so your PT is secure and safe.
